Steve's Home Poker Blog > Vegas Trip Report
To sum things up...poker went well, but overall the trip was a disaster :(
Our flight out of Seattle was cancelled, and we had to fly to Phoenix, get on another plane, and fly back to Vegas. Because of this we bitched and complained to US Airways to allow us to extend our trip by two days.
The Imperial Palace was GHETTO! We entered our room, the music from outside was super loud (and it doesn't stop till 4AM), the bath tub was backed up, and none of the lights worked! My special lady friend and I were sitting in the dark holding our heads looking at the floor. We went to our friends room (their lights worked), and we all decided we would check out the next morning and pay for a decent hotel.
Next morning we checked into the Monte Carlo. It was SOOO nice. Our rooms were on the 31st floor with a view of a New York New York, the Luxor, Mandalay Bay, and the mountains to the West. We also saved about $150 because Bob from the poker room gave us the poker players rate. This was awesome.
All the poker I played was at the Mone Carlo. The poker room only had 9 tables, but it was very nice. I only played on Tuesday and Wednesday, and the competition seemed pretty tough. There were a lot of regulars who knew each other and the dealers, but I managed to make about $47/hour playing 1/2 NL.
I got the stomach flu on Wednesday afternoon and spent the rest of my trip in the hotel room! This really sucked because I heard that the poker room was packed (with fish visiting for the weekend) on Thursday and Friday nights, and Saturday afternoon too. I had also built my bankroll up enough to take a shot at 2/5 NL, and if I did well at that I was going to stick around for a WSOP event.
Hopefully next time I won't get sick!
